Developing Emotional and Social Intelligence in an education leadership postgraduate program: Perceptions of aspiring school leader

This exploratory study builds upon the need for scientific studies that measure impact of emotional intelligence training on educational leadership skill development. Using a quasi-experimental methodological approach, researchers evaluated effectiveness course in development postgraduate program taken during program's first semester. The was grounded framework by Daniel Goleman. It also utilized concepts and skills from ability model intelligence. sample consisted 45 aspiring leaders New York urban university. evaluation measures included Leadership Practices Inventory (LPI) Emotional Social Competency (ESCI). preliminary results conducted paired t-tests showed positive statistically significant differences all variables ESCI LPI. Further analysis, with pre-posttest design, effect cohort maturation. Results five practices LPI, except practice Challenge. Prospective school leaders' perception their competencies, measured ESCI, demonstrated Self-Awareness.
